Stichting Avondtmusyck presents:
Double recital given by Rie Hiroe and Jisung Kim
Two international guests, Rie Hiroe, Professor at Tokyo University of the Arts, and Jisung Kim, Professor of Organ and Improvisation at the Seoul Theological University in South Korea, will give an organ recital on the mighty Martinikerk Schnitger organ.
No-one can doubt that the Orgelzomer Groningen 2019 is an international affair when seeing the names on this evening’s playbill. Having given masterclasses this afternoon, the Japanese organist Rie Hiroe and her South Korean colleague Jisung Kim will play the world-famous Martinikerk organ for us this evening. They appear tonight thanks to Stichting Avondtmusyck, which for many years has been responsible for organising the concerts given during the summer in the Martinikerk. It is a well-known fact that North German baroque music is the music best suited to the Martinikerk organ. We will hear how Rie Hiroe and Jisung Kim both let this organ’s unique set of pipes -dating from a period covering no less than six centuries- shine in all its glory.
